CIRCLE OF CARE

"How can I help?" Friends of families of those with epilepsy are often anxious to find out what they can do to lessen the heavy burden of medical problems and the high cost of medical care and special equipment. Now there is a direct, tangible way to make a contribution for a specific need. It is called the Epilepsy "Circle of Care".

The Epilepsy "Circle of Care" Fund is a response to the need for help that is not covered by any other source, thus causing a major burden on the families. Examples are medicines whose costs are beyond what the family can afford yet needed by the person with epilepsy. At other times, it may be medical equipment that is needed and not covered by insurance or Medicaid. To help with these problems the Epilepsy Alliance NC has created the "Circle of Care", a fund designed to help specific needs that are approved by the Alliance. Each "Circle" consists of family members, friends, church members, or any others who would like to support a particular need. Each "friend" sends a donation to the Epilepsy Alliance “Circle of Care” Fund, designating the specific need. One hundred percent of the gift will be used for the designated need.

Members of the circle can make monthly donations or a lump sum donation, and 100 per cent of the donation will be used for the coverage of the specified need. In this way, the financial burden of the family is greatly lessened, and friends have a way of showing they care. If many “friends” chip in, it makes it easier for everyone and your donation will be tax deductible. Ever give to a charity and wonder where the money is really going and how it is being used? Now you have a chance to see exactly how your charitable donation is being used.

Current Needs

Our identified need currently is a piece of special equipment for a man who has had a stage 4 brain tumor. He has improved with surgery, but a recent bout of status epilepticus (a series of back-to-back seizures that is difficult to stop) has left him unable to walk without assistance. A new mechanical device has been developed that assists in stabilizing the patient so that he/she can walk with a minimum of assistance. This would make a tremendous difference in this man’s ability to get around. The cost is $5,000. Please join us to help give this family a Christmas gift  that will greatly improve their quality of life. Click on the donate button above and designate your donation to the Circle of Care. Or you may send a check to the Epilepsy Alliance NC and send to PPI, Suite 5541 A, 1920 W. First Street. Your donation is tax deductible, and you will receive a letter specifying that.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Patricia Gibson at 800-642-0500.
